Career Highlights
As editor for each of the following book projects, I was privileged to be a productive part of publishing teams driven toward a common goal. There is no greater satisfaction in work than celebrating a collaborative success with my author partners.
The War I Always Wanted
The Illusion of Glory and the Reality of War
He got the war he always wanted, leading him to the front lines of Afghanistan and Iraq as a young infantry officer in the elite 101st Airborne Division. But he got more than he bargained for. In a style reminiscent of Kurt Vonnegut, Friedman explores the contradictions of soldiers who can look back on the worst period of their lives and call it "a pretty good time."

"One of the best military books of the decade."

Selected Chaff
The Wartime Columns of Al McIntosh
A tie-in with the Ken Burns 14-hour documentary series The War, this volume compiles the World War II columns of Al McIntosh, exploring the effects of the war on the American homefront. These columns were prominently featured in the documentary and read by Tom Hanks. Ken Burns autographed copies of Selected Chaff for those who attended the premiere of his documentary in McIntosh's hometown of Luverne, Minnesota.
Jimmy Stewart
Bomber Pilot
The very first chronical of the beloved Hollywood legend’s combat record as a bomber pilot in World War II was written by journalist Starr Smith, who served as a combat intelligence officer beside Stewart. Walter Cronkite wrote the foreword. The finished product received the blessing of Stewart's family. His daughter Kelly stated, "My father would feel honored by this book." It would go on to be my publisher's all-time bestseller.
A Spy's Journey
A CIA Memoir
This is a rare firsthand chronicle by a career CIA agent, Floyd Paseman, who served through eight presidential administrations. It received major news coverage and reviews, including in the New York Times and USA Today.
Hunting al Qaeda
A Take-No-Prisoners Account of Terror, Adventure, and Disillusionment
Two special forces team members from the Virginia National Guard co-wrote their story of hunting remnants of al Qaeda and their Taliban allies in Afghanistan during their six-month tour, where they mounted 45 missions, captured 3 high-value targets, and destroyed 79,000 pounds of weapons and ammunition. This quickly became my publisher's highest-ranking bestseller on Amazon.
"At War" & "To Be A . . ." series
Authored by combat veterans with firsthand experience and historians with subject matter expertise, these Zenith Press series titles were perennial successes in the military enthusiast book market.
